The Face of a Tyrant

“I refuse to take ‘no’ for an answer.” – Obama, Shaker Heights HS, Ohio on January 4, 2012 (also at CNS News, original link from Kentucky.com broken).

O, Tyrant

“Consumer Financial Protection Bureau” – the name of the new branch of the Department of the Treasury, hatched from the Dodd-Frank Abomination (er, Act):  fellow patriots, please read that name.  Do you have any faith whatsoever in Timothy Geithner or his minions to achieve any goodness on the subjects of “consumers”, “consumer finance”, OR “consumer protection”?

and if that's not a focus group tested name...

“after giving up on hopes for a confirmation vote in the Senate” – Feller, Kuhnhenn, AP

“Obama’s aides said the president would not be stopped by a legislative gimmick” – Feller, Kuhnhenn, AP

“When Congress refuses to act, and as a result hurts our economy and puts people at risk, I have an obligation as president to do what I can without them.” – Obama

“Only with a director in place can the consumer bureau keep ‘dishonest’ mortgage companies, payday lenders, debt collectors and others from harming consumers, Obama said.” – Feller, Kuhnhenn, AP

Please explain to me the evil in mortgage companies, lenders, or debt collectors?  All of these entities help consumers, if one takes an intellectually honest aggregate view of the industry (yes, yes, we can find the occasional shyster in any walk of life – are the Feds going to legislate away human nature?)  How can an economy function without these entities?  Obama doesn’t care, he’s got his focus group tested talking points to shove down our throats.

Hat tip @marklevinshow for the alert about Obama’s Shaker Heights HS visit, funded by taxpayers.  “Shaker Heights”, oh the irony of that name.

Update, January 6, 2012:  today, King Vacationer stuck our nose in it.

Thanks, Jim. Yes, that original link was broken for me, too. I fixed it.
