Alan Grayson: racist liar

Yuck it up, you pond scum excrement. You accuse racism (among other outrageous lies in this short email) with absolutely no evidence at all. So you are the racist, you pathetic loser. Shut your hate hole. (image and article via Weasel Zippers).

Rep. Alan Grayson

tattered boots, bootstraps intact

bootstraps intact

I’m not going to sugar coat it, last night’s results were very bad at the national level. But America has persevered through tough trials before: starvation at Jamestown, seemingly hopeless odds in the American Revolution, Brits burning the White House in the War of 1812, bitter division that stewed for decades leading up to and through the Civil War. We’ve put Jim Crow laws in our past, suffered terrible poverty and the Dust Bowl in the 1930s. We’ve defeated genocidal monsters all over the world. Through each of these seemingly insurmountable challenges, we’ve emerged stronger on the other side. Chin up, young Lady Liberty. Be patient with us – it’s going to take years. But we will not let you down.

Open thread: Despicable divisiveness

I am opening this thread on August 17, 2012, and I pray that I’ll be able to close it in my lifetime.  I am sick, sick, sick of race baiting, Balkanization, false divisiveness, vicious dishonesty, and bigotry accusations from the mouths of bigots. I hope that we Americans retire these rot peddlers into the putrid history bin marked “contempt”.

tolerance, unless…

2012-11-06, Bill Press earns his faux tolerance repeat offender stripes on uncleham.

2012-11-06, Michael Moore spouts ignorant, unfounded racist accusations on HuffPost Live (HPL hosts were Ahmed Shihab-Eldin and Zach Carter). This exchange is such a stunning hack job by all three participants that it must be seen to be believed:
HPL, AS-E: “A lot of people on the mainstream media you watch it when race does come up they talk about how Republicans are kinda doubling down on the white electorate they… they’re claiming that Latinos aren’t going to the polls, so on, so forth. Why does division… I mean, do you think race is… is overlooked in terms of, uh, how significant a role it plays?”
Moore: “People are really uncomfortable to wanna… to say it. Uh, even just before we went on, y’know I was… I was [smile, hand waving] using some euphemism…”
HPL, AS-E: “right”
Moore: “Uh, to avoid having to say what I think a lot of us know to be the truth. And it’s not to say that all Republicans are racist, uh, or people who voted for Romney are racist, I don’t believe that, but I do believe that hate is a huge motivator on… on Romney’s side. And they have manipulated that, and exploited it as best they can to try and get people out to get rid of Barack Obama. Not so much that… that they’re for Romney, but to get rid of… of Obama.”
HPL, ZC: “We’ve heard… that… that Welfare ad that… that he was running for a very long time…”
Moore: “Yeah, exactly”
HPL, ZC: “…I think that was clearly [inaudible]”
Moore: “no, they know exactly what they’re doing”
[Cut/Splice in original HuffPost video]
HPL, ZC: “Well, I guess I’m curious, ’cause I understand the… the psychology behind [smile, hand waving] like a ruling class landowner from… from the 18th century, but… but these groups like True the Vote, this sortof like Minutemen-esque, sortof grass roots voter suppression, uh-uh-uh movement that’s going… I mean where does that come from? Is that… that something that… that you think of as being relatively new and unique, or do you see this as a… a y’know trans-historical phenomenon?
Moore: “I think… I think it’s been with us for a very long time, and… and that, um, that kindof harassment and intimidation has come in many forms over the years. And today, it’s in the form of… I don’t know how many… [pause, swallow, more handwaving] they claim to have hundreds of thousands of people at the polls. They’re gonna try and stop as many people… look like they’re gonna vote for Obama uh, as possible. Umm…”
HPL, AS-E: “By that you mean people of color, perhaps? Minorities, I dunno [smiling]? Latinos [large smile]?”
[all three share a good laugh]
Moore [chuckling throughout his answer]: “I-I-I-I… that was… that was… that was a… that was a polite way of saying…”
HPL, AS-E [still smiling]: “…potentially”
Moore: “…[laugh pause] there’s a group of racists standing at the polling booths, looking… [waves hands]”
HPL, ZC: “Doesn’t that shock you, though? I mean, it’s 2012. I mean, IT IS 2012, and we’re doing this Jim Crow stuff.”
Moore: “No…”
HPL, AS-E: “We’re also talking about abortion in 2012. [smiling]”
Moore: “But listen, I… guys, um, I… I lived in a time… I have a memory as a child of seeing a sign on a restroom door that said ‘whites only.’ I mean, that’s in my lifetime, and look how young I am. So I mean, it [laughs]… it wasn’t that long ago.”

2012-11-06, update on Joseph Lowery, unapologetic racist (see below): he’ll be sharing company with President Obama and the First Lady tonight in Chicago, watching voting returns (sources: Washington Examiner, Weasel Zippers)

2012-11-06, Anonymous Coward Racist broke federal law and put flyers from a non-existent Tea Party group in mailboxes in Medina County, Ohio. One side said ‘ROMNEY MUST WIN / THE N—– OBAMA MUST LOSE / DEMOCRATES (sic) AND THE N—–S WANT TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY AS WE KNOW IT / GET OUT AND VOTE / GOD IS ON OUR SIDE / THE NRA IS BEHIND YOU / BE PREPARED / BE ARMED’. The other side said ‘THANK YOU FOR HELPING US DEFEND “WHITE AMERICA” BY DEFEATING THE N—– IN OUR “WHITE HOUSE”. / PLEASE CONSIDER SUPPORTING THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN TICKET TO HELP OUR COUNTRY STAY STRONG AND WHITE. / THE NRA KNOWS THAT THE N—–S WANT TO CONTROL OUR COUNTRY. / BE PREPARED / BE ARMED / MCTP’ (sources: Breitbart, Weasel Zippers)

to my dear friends

To those of you who aren’t already hopelessly in the tank for an avowed hard leftist temporary President/tyrant of this great nation, I pen this tough love plea. In response to this morning’s disastrous, indefensible decision by the Supreme Court, I’ve noticed a theme repeated in several locations. Something to the too little, too late effect of “I don’t usually share my political thoughts online, but…”

…and I ask rhetorically, how’s that approach working out for our dear nation? I’m sorry to point out the obvious, but your politeness and social graces have played out quite conveniently for aggressive leftist ideologues. As an expression of their gratitude towards you, you’re derided as a racist, homophobic, xenophobic, teabagging, women-hating, evil rich hundred-thousandaire bigot hobbit (ah, don’t mention it, you’re most welcome).

Back to those of you in the leftist tank, who permit your “leaders” boundless leeway in these (and endless other) destructive means: start working on that explanation to your grandchildren. Your creative writing skills remain sorely inadequate for the eventuality. Good luck in shouldering that burden. My fellow patriots and I will not carry it for you.

Propagandists, all together now!

Real Clear Politics, the Weekly Standard, and Politico set the “heckle” bar pretty darned low, especially when carrying the water for the Beloved One.  MSNBC also led the “heckle” echo chamber, but also astutely (cough) observed the “racism” involved.

So there you have it, my friends:  “heckle” is the newspeak word of the day, meaning “to dare expect Obama to field a tough question” or “to disagree with an Obama policy (usually risked only by a racist)”.

a followup question for Spike Lee

After watching Spike Lee’s 2012 Sundance “rant” (I’m willing to give him a break because he didn’t start dropping gratuitous F-bombs until Chris Rock primed the pump with his question), and reading his entire June 12 GQ interview, I’d like to address the portion of the GQ interview that raised so much attention this week:

GQ: The election is coming up. You’ve been a big supporter of Barack. Why do you think so many people are so critical of him?
Spike Lee: I can’t say to all the people that are unhappy with him that they’re racist people. People ain’t got jobs, people are hurting. So I don’t care what color you are, if people are out of work, it’s tough. And then when you’re the first African American president, that’s not helping either.

a followup question for Spike Lee

Spike, you “can’t say […] all the people that are unhappy with [Obama] […] [are] racist people.”  And you go on to say “when you’re the first African American president, that’s not helping.”  I don’t understand what you meant by that second part, but I’m more focused on the first part.  If you can’t say all the people who oppose Obama are racist, can you name one who’s racist?  You made the charge, so you should bear the burden of evidence.  I don’t support Obama at all, and yet I have not one racist bone in my body.  Why the need for floating an unsupported charge of racism?  Doesn’t that cheapen instances of true racism in the past?

Democrats filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964

(via Right Scoop) 48 years ago yesterday, Senate Minority Leader Everett McKinley Dirksen (Republican, Illinois) broke a 57 working day Democrat filibuster against the pending Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Senate Minority Leader Everett McKinley Dirksen (R, Ill.)

Racist Senator Robert C. Byrd (Democrat, West Virginia) sat down after speaking for fourteen hours and thirteen minutes against passage, and Senator Dirksen took the floor soon thereafter.  The Senate voted 71-29 to pass.  The House passed the Senate version, and LBJ signed the bill into law on July 2.
